Heritage & Overview

The Dievas MG-1 is a remarkable testament to the prowess of Dievas Uhren Technik, a German independent watchmaker renowned for crafting high-quality, limited-production tool watches. Limited to just 99 pieces worldwide, this dive watch is a true collector's item, blending innovation with vintage-inspired design.

The MG-1 features a substantial 45mm case, with a reported lug-to-lug measurement of 54mm and a thickness ranging from 14mm to 17mm. This robust case is crafted from ThyssenKrupp's high-strength marine-grade superalloy, a 100% austenitic steel that is 250% stronger, 400% more anti-magnetic, and 500% more corrosion-resistant than traditional SS316L or Grade 5 titanium. Each component, including the wide flat bezel, inner cage, and 9mm screw-down crown, is meticulously CNC-machined on multi-axis machines and hand-finished for superior luster and detail.

With an impressive water resistance of 1000 meters, the MG-1 earns its nickname 'Beast of the Deep.' It features a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring clarity under any condition. The standout matte brownish-red dual-layered sandwich dial is a visual delight, shifting between brown and black depending on the light. It incorporates Panerai-inspired cutout numerals, with larger numerals at 12, 6, and 9, a date window at 3, and a geometric typeface. The dial is further enhanced with light radium-colored Super-LumiNova for exceptional luminescence.

At the heart of the MG-1 is the Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, which has been modified and regulated by Dievas for top accuracy. This movement provides a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, ensuring reliable performance. The watch is designed with a 22mm lug width, making it suitable for a variety of strap options.

Priced between $999 and $1290 during its pre-sale, the MG-1 was marketed as a standout, rugged tactical piece for those with larger wrists. Its unique pre-sale strategy attracted early buyers, emphasizing its appeal as a 'weird but wonderful' collector's item. Although now discontinued, the MG-1 remains a testament to Dievas's commitment to form-follows-function tool watches, drawing from post-war German horology traditions and using advanced materials like 6Steel in their other lines.
